This Privacy Policy describes how ProductIQX ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you install and use our Shopify application. By installing ProductIQX, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide our service. Specifically, we collect:

Store information — your Shopify store domain, shop ID, and access tokens required to authenticate with the Shopify API.
Product data — product titles, descriptions, image alt text, SEO fields, and product media URLs from your Shopify store.
App usage data — optimization history, automation rules you create, SEO analysis scores, and subscription plan information.
Session data — authentication session tokens required to maintain your logged-in state within the app.

    ✓ We do not collect, store, or process any personal data belonging to your store's customers — including names, email addresses, phone numbers, order history, or payment information.
  

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to provide and improve the ProductIQX service:

To analyze your product catalog and generate SEO and completeness scores.
To generate optimized product titles, descriptions, and image alt text using AI.
To run automation rules that optimize newly created products.
To manage your subscription and track optimization usage within your billing cycle.
To maintain the security and integrity of our service.

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing the ProductIQX service.

3. Third-Party Services

To deliver our AI optimization features, we share product data with the following third-party service:

OpenAI — product titles, descriptions, and related content are sent to OpenAI's API to generate optimized content. OpenAI processes this data in accordance with their Privacy Policy. We do not send any customer personal data to OpenAI.

We do not sell, rent, or share your store data with any other third parties.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your store data is stored securely on our servers hosted on Railway. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit.
Secure authentication using Shopify's official OAuth flow.
HMAC signature verification for all incoming Shopify webhooks.
Access controls that restrict data access to authorized systems only.

5. Data Retention

We retain your store data for as long as your app is installed. When you uninstall ProductIQX:

Your session tokens are deleted immediately.
All product data, optimization history, and automation rules associated with your store are permanently deleted within 48 hours of receiving the uninstall notification from Shopify.

You may also request immediate deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at the address below.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

Access — request a copy of the data we hold about your store.
Correction — request correction of inaccurate data.
Deletion — request deletion of your store's data at any time.
Portability — request your data in a portable format.

7. Shopify Compliance

ProductIQX is built on the Shopify platform and complies with Shopify's Partner Program Agreement and API Terms of Service. We respond to all mandatory Shopify compliance webhooks:

customers/data_request — we confirm we do not store customer personal data.
customers/redact — we confirm no customer data needs to be deleted.
shop/redact — we permanently delete all store data upon request.

ProductIQX does not request access to customer personal data and has not been granted protected customer data access by Shopify.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes, we will notify merchants via the Shopify admin.
